DRUG-FREE IVF – A NEW RAY OF HOPE

DRUG-FREE IVF – A NEW RAY OF HOPE

IVF is one of the greatest inventions in the medical field over the last century. The scientific community is always in pursuit of improving the success rates of fertility treatments and enhancing patient safety and experience. Though IVF has bestowed parenthood to many fertility-challenged couples, many quit IVF even today, due to various reasons like the physical, emotional, and financial trauma that one has to bear with during the course of treatment. Approximately 45% of patients discontinue IVF and this number can vary from country to country.

The traditional IVF process is a boon for sure, but it is a roller coaster ride as the woman is subjected to severe physical and mental agony due to the injections, medications, the long duration of treatment, feelings of anxiety, disappointment, etc. Sometimes, IVF could be associated with complications like OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome) which is an excessive reaction to the hormones that are being given.

With time, assisted reproduction has evolved in such a way so as to develop treatment protocols that are less complicated, less painful, convenient, and safer for patients.

CAPA IVM/Drug-Free IVF is the new advanced fertility technique, which involves only a few injections for the treatment protocol, has no side effects like OHSS, and is also economical.

While in traditional IVF, a woman needs to take hormonal injections for 10-15 days, to stimulate the production of more eggs, in CAPA IVM, only 1-3 injections are given for a short period of time. Conventionally, more doses of injections are necessary as mature eggs are retrieved for the fertilization process. However, since in CAPA IVM, immature oocytes are retrieved and grown in the lab, only a few injections are given. Immature oocytes are matured in a 2-step process in the lab to improve the maturation potential followed by the traditional IVF route wherein fertilization is carried out resulting in embryo creation.

CAPA IVM comes to the rescue of those women who are concerned about excess medication and hormonal injections being given and those who prefer to try an economical and less intensive treatment. Dr. Jalagam Kavya Rao, Clinical Head & Fertility Specialist, Oasis Fertility, Warangal has earned the unique distinction of creating India’s first CAPA IVM baby.

CAPA IVM, is a very recent procedure that is being practiced only in very few centres in the world and we have been able to create India’s first CAPA IVM baby due to our patient-centric approach and passion for research. Fertility treatments are highly personalized and for each couple treatment protocol varies taking into consideration their health, age, medical condition, and several other parameters” says Dr. Durga G Rao, Co-founder & Medical Director, Oasis Fertility.

“We are in the pursuit of redefining our techniques, diagnosis, prognosis, etc. to make the parenthood journey less stressful and safe. Several advanced fertility treatments are available and couples need to overcome their doubts and inhibitions and visit a fertility centre if they are unable to conceive” adds Dr. Jalagam Kavya Rao, Clinical Head & Fertility Specialist, Oasis Fertility, Warangal.
